This map was designed for These Flimsy Rituals, an actual play podcast. The map features the city of Embrace that features in their season playing the game Blades in the Dark. Blades is one of my favorite games and it was a pleasure getting to build out a vision of this space for the gang to carry out their adventures.

We decided to keep it very illustrative, without any text or iconography. Including detail medallions that illustrated key locations in the city.

It was great to explore a different style of map than I've made before. They already had a functional map of the city and were looking for something more impressionistic. I took a lot of inspiration from the work of Matrakçı Nasuh an Ottoman mapmaker from the 14th century. The work I did on this project has greatly influenced my drawing since.
